Description
Nappatech is a material chosen by investors who think about furnishings over many years, not a single season. The name refers to nappa leather, the soft, smooth full-grain leather known from luxury armchairs and car upholstery. Nappatech reproduces this refined, even look, but combines it with parameters that natural leather cannot provide: flame retardancy, resistance to detergents, antibacterial properties and durability counted in hundreds of thousands of cycles. At LumoMeble we use it to upholster booths, chairs, bar stools and benches for restaurants, hotels and clubs, where the most is demanded of the furniture.
Construction and parameters of Nappatech
Nappatech consists of two layers. The top layer, 100% PVC, forms a smooth, closed surface through which liquids do not penetrate deep into the material. The bottom layer is a polyester backing that stabilises the eco leather, gives it tensile strength and makes upholstering easier. A weight of 750 g/m² places Nappatech among the heaviest materials in our offer, which you can feel in your hand right away: it is a substantial, confident upholstery, resistant to accidental damage.
- Abrasion resistance - over 800,000 cycles. This value exceeds many times the requirements placed on upholstery in public buildings.
- Light fastness - above 7. The colour does not fade even under long exposure to sun.
- Roll width - 140 cm, which allows large, uniform backrest elements to be cut without additional seams.
Resistance to conditions that defeat other upholstery
The material is resistant to hydrolysis, that is, the slow breakdown of the material under the influence of moisture and heat, which makes cheaper eco leathers start to flake after a few years. It does not crack at low temperatures, so it copes well with cool rooms, entrance vestibules and covered terraces. It withstands contact with urine and the cleaning agents used in hospitals, as well as pool water and sea water. This makes it suitable not only for hospitality but also for hotel spa areas, poolsides and seaside venues.
Is the higher price of the material worth it?
Nappatech costs more to buy than standard eco leathers, but it is worth calculating the cost over the whole period of use of the furniture. Reupholstering a booth means not only the expense of the material and the upholsterer's work, but also taking part of the dining room out of use and the risk that the new colour will not match the other furniture. Upholstery that withstands many times more abrasion cycles and does not flake after a few seasons lets you avoid this. For high-turnover venues and restaurant chains it is often the most economical choice in the longer term.
Why is Nappatech a good choice for a restaurant and a hotel?
In a hospitality venue, furniture upholstery has to meet several requirements at once: look attractive, be hygienic, easy to maintain and safe. Nappatech answers all of these needs:
- fire safety - the material meets the PN-EN 1021-1 (smouldering cigarette) and PN-EN 1021-2 (match flame) standards, which makes the acceptance of the venue easier,
- hygiene - antibacterial properties and limited liquid absorption let you keep the seats clean without specialist equipment,
- lasting appearance - high light fastness and abrasion resistance mean that after years the furniture has no worn edges or faded backrests,
- elegance - the smooth, even surface looks refined and goes well with premium interiors.
Where does it work best?
We recommend it above all for hotel restaurants, steakhouses, cocktail bars, lounges and clubs, where the furniture should underline the standard of the place. It also performs excellently in heavily used areas: on booths in chain restaurants, in food courts, on bar stools at the bar and on benches in waiting areas. Long, continuous seating is the most exposed to wear, which is why bar booths are most often ordered in Nappatech. On restaurant chairs the material nicely highlights the stitching and edges, and on bar stools it keeps the shape of the seat well.
Nappatech colours
The collection includes 26 shades with English names, for example Nappatech Black, Nappatech Ivory or Nappatech Cuoio. The palette can be divided into several groups:
- classics and neutral backdrop - white, ivory, pearl, light grey, ash, cement, graphite, anthracite and black,
- warm browns - cappuccino, taupe, toffee, cognac cuoio and deep ebony, which evoke traditional leather upholstery,
- colours of nature - khaki, olive, forest green, lime and mouse grey,
- vivid accents - marsala, wine, orange, yellow, aquamarine, sky blue and ocean navy.
Such a wide choice allows you both to keep the discreet elegance of the dining room and to build the identity of the venue around the colour of the upholstery. You can view all our materials in one place on the colour charts page.
How to care for furniture upholstered in Nappatech?
The closed PVC surface means that keeping things clean every day takes a moment. It is enough to follow a few rules:
- wash the upholstery with a damp cloth or sponge and a mild upholstery cleaner,
- wipe up spilled drinks and sauces immediately, then dry the surface,
- do not use bleaches, solvents or abrasive products,
- do not iron the material, do not tumble dry it and do not send it for dry cleaning,
- for disinfection you can use hospital-grade agents, to which Nappatech is resistant.

Frequently asked questions
Is Nappatech real leather?
No. It is an eco leather that resembles nappa leather in appearance but is a synthetic material. Thanks to this it is flame retardant, resistant to cleaning agents and does not need greasing like natural leather.
Is Nappatech suitable for furniture by a pool or in a spa area?
Yes, the material is resistant to pool and sea water and to hydrolysis. Remember, however, that the inside of an upholstered piece of furniture, that is the foam and the frame, should not be flooded with water.
Is Nappatech flame retardant?
Yes. It meets the requirements of the PN-EN 1021-1 and PN-EN 1021-2 standards, which test the resistance of upholstery to ignition from a cigarette and from a match flame.
Do dark Nappatech colours fade in the sun?
A light fastness above 7 is a very good result, so even dark and saturated colours keep their shade for a long time, even with large glazing.
Is there an extra charge for furniture in Nappatech?
You will see the price of the furniture in the chosen material in the configurator after clicking “Configure” on the product page. A swatch with the full set of colours costs PLN 15 net.
